- Provide interconnection for the transmission of USB data and power signals over a USB-C hybrid optical- copper cable assembly
- Transmission requirements
- Shall comply with the USB standard established by the USB Implementers Forum, Inc.
- Shall support USB data rates of 10 Gbps and 5 Gbps
- Shall deliver up to 3 watts of power
- Construction requirements:
- Active cable circuitry shall derive power from either the connected host or the peripheral device
- Shall be 100 feet (30.4 meters) in length
- Shall include multimode fibers
- Shall include 24 AWG tinned copper wires
- Shall provide USB-A and USB-C male connectors with gold-plated contacts
- Shall provide a Plenum rated cable jacket
- Shall allow a bend radius of 1.92" (49 mm)
- Shall have a cable outer diameter of 0.24” (6.0 mm)
- Shall support a tensile strength of 100 N (10.2 kg, 22.5 lbs)
- Shall provide a compression load resistance of 200 N (20.4 kg, 45 lbs)
- Shall support a pull strength of 111 N (11.3 kg, 25 lbs)
- Shall provide protection from outside electrical interference
- General requirements
